Mumbai: Cineplay is an initiative of Chhoti Production Company Pvt. Ltd. (CPC), a boutique production house headquartered in Mumbai. The founders of the production house are Subodh Maskara and his wife Actor and Director Nandita Das. The primary endeavor of the company is to be a conduit for compelling stories through the creative medium, exploring new and unique ideas and to make the performing arts accessible to a larger audience.
Cineplay is a motion-picture capture of the theatre performance. The film making process is used to create a new viewing experience of the theatrical performance, in collaboration with the director’s vision.
This will be CPC’s second theatre venture, the first one being their very successful and very well received maiden theatre production, Between the Lines that was first presented to Indian theatre enthusiasts and audiences in September 2012. Very soon, through the Cineplay platform, Between the Lines will be available not only to Indian, but to global audiences as well. Cineplay has already acquired the digital rights for three popular, leading theatre titles that will be rolled out over the next 3 months. They are
Dance like a Man, Adhe Adhure and Between the Lines. By December 2014, Cineplay would have acquired the digital rights to 7 additional leading titles.
Cineplay was born from the thought process that a creative online platform was the means if one wanted to expose every individual to the fascinating world of theatre and theatrical performances. These performances will be accessible to a global audience using online on demand streaming through its proprietary platform.
