The Anima international festival is THE rendez-vous for the latest in cartoon films, animation at its best, sharpest, weirdest and 
wildest. With over 200 screenings of all genres, some films not yet premiered, an Animation Night to remember, and to round off the event, award of the golden Cartoon d’Or, this festival has become a major event in its category. The mood is relaxed and magical, a week’s holiday for fans and professionals alike.
Anima, the Brussels Animation Film Festival was founded in 1982. The Festival seeks to promote animated films from around the world. It also seeks to foster a dialogue between professionals, filmmakers and the public and to raise awareness of quality animation among film and television distributors. The festival organizes an international competition as well as a national’s competition for films produced in Belgium.
Since 2014 Anima has been accepted as an Oscar-qualifying festival; the festival also nominates its award-winning European films for the Cartoon d’Or, the most prestigious award for European animated shorts. Anima is the only animation film festival in Belgium and is one ot the nine most important animation film festivals in Europe.
