2013 has proven to be a big year for Bollywood in terms of music. Global music giant, Sony Music also presented audiences with multi genre music from romantic melodies, party anthems to fun songs!
The year started with a bang with the big love song ‘ Teri Jhuki Nazar’ from Murder 3, which ruled the charts over 15 weeks in a row going to the much critically acclaimed movie Kai Po Che, with songs like ‘Shubhaarambh’ which became a hit with the audience and an welcome addition to Bollywood Navratri songs. On the other hand, ‘Manjha’ highlighted the importance of relationships. Go Goa Gone easily qualified as the wackiest music album of the year with Khoon Choos Le being the first anti-Monday song that turned out becoming an anthem. Slowly Slowly became a rage with college youngsters. Sunny Leone’s Laila and Priyanka Chopra’s Babli Badmaash from Shootout at Wadala was everything that an item number needed – bold, raunchy and dripping with sex appeal.
Zinda from ‘Bhaag Milka Bhaag’ a rousing anthemic number that turned out to be a pulsating anthem for all of us! Yaaram, composed by Vishal Bharadwaj from ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ was one fun romantic ballad, about typical daily chores, beginning with light music that was soothing and picked up the tempo towards the end. ‘ABCD’ was a very versatile album from the talented composer duo Sachin-Jigar with songs that had energy-infusing beats set to pulsating folky sound elements.
‘Chingam Chabake’ and ‘Tooh’ from ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ drove the entire nation crazy with the clinking of glasses and aunties shaking their ‘tooh’, reminding you of the typical Punjabi weddings! AR Rahman returned to the Bollywood music scene with a bang in the all time classic ‘Raanjhanaa’ – ‘Tum Tak’, made the nation fall in love and the title track Raanjhanaa describing the emotions of a joyous lover was ruling the charts for a long long time. ‘Lazy lad’ from ‘Ghanchakkar’ and the title track from ‘Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola’ also contributed to Bollywood’s tryst with quirky songs.

Early 2014, Sony Music will release songs from Dharma Production’s Hasee Toh Phasee, whose cucking frazy songs are already catching up the music charts to be followed by Ungli from Dharma Productions.
