Clik here to view.by Mr. Subhash Ghai, today held the Convocation Ceremony for its sixth batch of students at Rang Sharda Auditorium.The institute takes pride in being ranked as one of the top 10 film schools by Hollywood reporter. Over 200 students commemorated completion of their education at Whistling Woods, Mumbai and were handed their degrees by the Maestros and founder Subhash Ghai along with Meghna Ghai, President, WWI. In continuing tradition, Whistling Woods International presented two lifetime achievement awards, titled the Whistling Woods Maestro Awards to legends of Indian Cinema, Amitabh Bachchan and the ace duo Pt. Shivkumar Sharma & Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya.Anand Sudershan, former chief executive of Manipal Global Education Services, current advisor of Everonn Education Ltd and associate of the WWI was also seen addressing the students.
Since its inception, Whistling Woods International (WWI) has added more than a 1000 media and entertainment professionals to the industry. This includes Film-makers, MBA graduates & Animation experts. In the recent past, the alumni of the institute have been associated with prominent films like Bhaag Milka Bhaag, Lootera, Life of Pi & The Dark Knight Rises amongst a list of several prestigious projects and organizations. Whistling Woods alumni are today seen in enviable positions at Fox Films, Adlabs Media, Viacom, Dharma Productions, Mirchi Movies, Mukta Arts, BIG Animation, Paprikaas, Optimystix, Red Chillies, Endemol, Balaji, Rajkamal Films (Kamal Hasan), BR Films and Network 18 amongst several others.
Expressing his excitement Mr. Subhash Ghai said, “I am amazed by the aptitude, maturity and competitive spirit of this batch of students graduating from our school. This will stand them in good stead in the years ahead. I feel fortunate that WWI has had the unstinted support and encouragement of our filmmakers and stars alike that provide students, immense inspiration. I wish all the students a very good luck and heartily thank Mr. Bachchan, Pt. Sharma & Pt. Chaurasia for motivating the students. We are glad to be able to give this opportunity to our students to hear from legends of such stature.”
Speaking at the occasion, superstar Amitabh Bachchan said, “It’s a proud moment for me to see the future of film industry today. I am grateful to Subhash ji for building a platform that will enhance the skills of actors, filmmakers, screenplay writers and more. There is a huge amount of interest in film making so I wish all the luck to the graduating batch that will now bear the burden of taking the industry to newer heights.”
Meghna Ghai, President Whistling Woods International said “It is heartening to see the support of our industry and their recognition of the value that Whistling Woods adds to the industry. We will continue our dedication to provide world-class education with 95% placements in the years to come. It’s indeed a proud moment to also see the batch graduating and facilitate the Maestro Award that has been instituted by WWI to recognize true legends who have contributed academically to the industry. Our alumni continue to look up to all our Maestro awardees for inspiration.”
Expressing his excitement, Karan Bhutani, one of the students of WWI said, “The amount of knowledge I have gained from WWI as well as the knowledge I am gaining from my current work is incredible. When I enrolled for the Film making course in WWI, I never thought I would get such a big opportunity, however, by the end of the course as my understanding and awareness of the subject increased I hoped to get a good break which did happen”. Karan has worked on movies like “Paan Singh Tomar” & “Sahib,Bibi aur Gangster” and is now working on his own film that is sponsored by Whistling Woods International to help him take his first step as a director.
