‘The Panna Bharat Ram Theatre Festival’ bids adieu with a vibrant palette of productions in the National Capital

New Delhi :The National Capital Delhi has always been a pioneer in the field of art and culture with all the new programs, festivals, musical evenings etc. adds colors to a common man’s life. Amongst various musical, food and art & cultural festivals, Theater has strengthened its supremacy in recent years that just not only entertained the people but also provided new opportunities for the budding artists. Keeping with the never dying magic of theater, Shri Ram Center organized its annual theater festival ‘Panna Bharat Ram Theater Festival’ during the last week of the passing year.

Commenced last Saturday, the festival concluded today with the staging of Girish Karnad’s another masterpiece ‘Agni Aur Barkha’, directed by K.S. Rajendran. Throughout the week, the Panna Bharat Ram Theatre Festival filled the audience with a vibrant palette of productions included; a classic of contemporary Indian theatre Tughlaq, offered a deep insight into the vast gap between the aspirations of man and his reality and the endless spiral of doom that unbridled ambition can lead to. Followed by Prem Kabootar, directed by Sameep Singh, Prem Kabootar was one of the most hilarious plays by one of the most popular contemporary writers, Manav Kaul. On the third day  Arsenic And Old Lace Directed by Nayana Sagar and written by Jopesh Kesselring was staged, Dadu (Solo), written & directed by Niloy Roy was on the stage on Christmas, while Lokesh Jain’s Kala Suraj Safed Sayee, written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas was staged on 5th evening of the festival. The penultimate evening of the Panna Bharat Ram Theatre Festival saw the staging of the only English play this year in Poem Of An Ending, a stage adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s Shesher Kobita, Directed by Kaushik Bose & Durba Ghose and bids adieu to capital theatre lovers with Agni Aur Barkha.

Theater lovers got an opportunity to celebrate the mesmerizing acts and plays throughout the week. True to the spirit of excellence and exploration in which it was conceived, ‘The Panna Bharat Ram Theater Festival’ is organized every year and brings well acclaimed, award-winning productions along with great opening show to its audience.

There was something for everyone and with the holiday season and given a great opportunity to enjoy with family and friends.

Talking about the festival Sh. Hemant Bharatram said it’s always fascinating to have such an amazing response to the festival, it boosts our confidence and enthusiasm to come back every year with some of the finest plays for the audience. Our aim is to promote theatre in India, and we have been working on Hindi Theatre specifically. It has been our endeavour to raise the level and quality of plays and showcase better theatre in Delhi, Hemant Bharatram added.
