Renowned film director and actor Kasinadhuni Viswanath has been selected for Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2016. President 
Pranab Mukherjee will confer the award on 3rd of next month at a function in New Delhi.
The Award is given for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Cinema. The award consists of a Swarn Kamal and a cash prize of 10 lakh rupees.
Viswanath has made fifty films since 1965 on a wide range of social and human issues. His films have great appeal to the masses. His film, Sankarabharanam, is one of India’s most memorable classics.
