Goa : A uniquely informal chai and chat session on day four of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) featured an interesting session with New York-based director Vince Sandoval who was speaking about how his film Apparitions explores the conservativeness of nuns in Philippines.
Orchestrated by Meera Deewan, who is curator of the Soul of Asia section, which features films which explore the spirituality and mysticism, took the casual conversation along asking Sandoval to open up about his film ‘Apparitions’.
“’Apparitions’ most closely interrogates fate. ‘Apparitions’ is set in 1971 and is about a monastery about nuns who leave the world physically but not mentally,” Sandoval said.
“I wanted to explore the conservativeness of the nuns,” he further said.
Religion in the sense of the senseless world and that people should learn to think beyond their religious views and think for themselves and what will help or support the people, he said.
Pan Nalin who was also part of the chai and chat session, said that it was having faith was human nature.
“It is human nature to believe in something or someone,” he said.
