Das Films, Myriad Pictures and Bowery Hills Entertainment’s Hollywood dance romance film, Heartbeats has started its shoot in India.
Step Up creator Duane Adler wrote and is directing Heartbeats with Ravi Varman as the director of photography. Heartbeats boasts an interesting cast which includes: Dancer Krystal Ellsworth, known for her work in Fame and as a backup dancer for Pharrell, Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber, Paul McGillion, Daphne Zuniga, Justin Chon, rising Tamil star Amitash Pradhan, Dance India Dance winner Salman Yussuf Khan.
Heartbeats is a journey of an all-American girl Kelli (Krystal Ellsworth), a young hip-hop dancer who travels to India for a week-long Indian wedding and falls in love with a new style of dance, the culture and with a young man who introduces it to her (Amitash Pradhan).
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation is producing original songs alongside composer Gingger Shankar, an Oscar nominee for The Passion of the Christ. The songs will feature traditional and contemporary Indian music and American hip-hop and R&B.
While not classified specifically as a Bollywood film, this should have appeal for fans of the genre which increasingly span the globe.
