Goa : Is water more critical for human beings alone or for other creatures in this world too?
That’s one of the key questions which Girish Malik’s film ‘Jal’ addresses according to the director, who was speaking to journalists at the media center on day three of the International Film Festival of India’s 44th edition.
Malik’s film was screened to a packed audience yesterday and his lead actor Purab Kohli is only too pleased. “It was a special feeling because this was the first time that it was screened for an Indian audience. It was screened in Korea during the Busan festival too,” said Kohli, who plays a water diviner in the water-parched Rann of Kutch region in Gujarat.
Malik, who was also present on the occasion, said that the film does carry a serious social message, but it delivers the same in a not too preachy manner.
“The film does not preach about (the importance of) water but makes you feel about water instead,” Malik said.
Blending a seemingly documentary oriented theme with commerce was not a difficult proposition at all, he said, claiming that he believed only in “either a good film or a bad one”.
“I cannot understand the distinction between a good film and a bad one,” said Malik, thanking his producers for stellar support to the project.
Also attending the press conference were lead actress Kirti Kulhari and Puneet Singh, one of the producers.
