SHARVANI PRODUCTIONS BAGA BEACH – A season in Paradise has been selected to be screened in Indian Panorama Section at the IFFI, Goa on 26th November, 2013 between 10 A.M to 12 P.M at INOX Theatre.
BEACH presents a gritty tale of life behind the Fun, Feni and Freedom in GOA. The beaches that represent the beauty of the exotic seashore also throw up the harsh truth and reality that affects the locals. A story with multi-dimensional situations and characters in season in paradise. The film has an interesting local, Bollywood and European film cast starring PAOLI DAM (Hate Story, Chakrat Fame), AKASH SINHA (Lunch Box Fame), JEAN DENIS ROMER, CEDRIC CIROTTEAU, SADIA SIDDIQUI, SERGIE KLEMOV, PRASHANTI TALPANKAR, PRADEEP NAIK, IVON DE’SOUZA, ABHISHEK VISHWAKARMA AND RAJESH KAREKAR.
BAGA BEACH presents how the tourists, the locals and the migrants are interdependent economically, emotionally and socially. How they perceive these complex unequal relationships and how they finally come to terms with it. Rather forced to live it for better or for worse! BAGA BEACH attempts to create awareness regarding issues related to tourism through 6 characters whose lives are inextricably and inexplicably intertwined!
The film follows 4 different stories that brings the essence of the story
A Goan family who have a German as a paying guest, A south India Boy who wants to be a lifeguard on the beach- his triumphs of acceptance, A young bead seller girl who falls in love with French tourist, A ten year old beach masseur and his tryst with tourists.
On casting Paoli Dam, Producer Parmod Salgaocar says, ‘The role of a bead seller is of an simple innocent girl from a rural background,who mingles with the tourists and is exposed to the western cultures. Paoli was a perfect combination of innocence and vulnerability while also displaying a certain sensuousness that captivated the young tourist who had a spiritual bent of mind.”
The Film BAGA BEACH is produced by Dr. Mrs. Pramod Salgaocar under the banner of Sharvani Productions and is directed by Laxmikant Shetgaonkar who has also done a feature film, PaltadacoMunis (The Man beyond the Bridge) in Konkani language. The Cinematography is done by Arup Mondal, Art Designer is Abhijit and production Designer Harsh Chowdhary, Project Consultants Kleos Entertainment Group.
Sharvani Productions.has also produced a TV Serial “Women in Goa” and a Marathi feature film “MareparyantFashi”. DrPramod Salgaocar has also been a sociopolitical activist, involved in women rights and political reservations for women and she has also been a chairperson of State Commission for Women for nine years.
The films is slated to release soon in India and globally and also been called for overseas festivals as well.
