It has been a great journey so far as the film has proved itself to be such a powerful tool for change: transforming individuals – both men and women, creating new activists, and empowering women and girls who watch it. The many awards and nominations the film has now received in different countries are deeply appreciated as affirmations and fortifying support for its powerful call for global change for women and girls across the world.
On 5th August the Delhi High Court will decide whether to lift the ban on India’s Daughter. I am still optimistic that the independent judiciary of India will give a just ruling in the matter that will enable India to fully participate in this world movement for change. After all, India led the world by example with the inspiring and courageous calls of its men and women protesters following the Nirbhaya rape, and should once again take its place as world leader on the urgent and unfinished business of respect, safety, autonomy, and rights for women and girls.”
