New Delhi: In a fitting tribute to one of the most iconic movie stars of all time, Indian movie legend Anupam Kher posted #Velfie videos on the occasion of Marlon Brando’s 11th death anniversary i.e July 1. Kher, who debuted on the #Velfie app to connect with his fan following, could be seen lip-syncing to the late actor’s famous dialogues from his acclaimed hit ‘The Godfather’ in the two videos.
“This is a great platform for not only professional actors but also people who are not actors but have the passion for the craft. It is also a great app to have some fun with.” said Anupam Kher
Marlon Brando, who passed away due to respiratory illness in 2004, is considered as one of the finest and most talented natural actors of all time. Best known for his portrayal of Don Vito Corleone in ‘The Godfather’, Brando has also acted in several critically acclaimed movies such as On the Waterfront, Last Tango in Paris, Apocalypse Now and A Streetcar Named Desire.
As a Marlon Brando fan, Kher also posted a heartfelt message for the legendary actor, tweeting- On the 11th death anniversary of Marlon Brando, here is my attempt to pay a tribute to the great actor on #Velfie
For his audition, Marlon Brando wanted to make Don Corleone “look like a bulldog”, so he stuffed his cheeks with cotton wool for the audition. For the actual filming he wore a mouthpiece made by a dentist. This appliance is on display in the American Museum of the Moving Image in Queens, New York.
Great minds think alike! For this #Velfie, Anupam Kher can be seen with the authentic Don Corleone jaw by doing what Brando had done, stuff his cheeks with cotton.
Velfie, a new age mobile platform for social media interactions, allows celebrities and users alike to post personalised video content. The trend of using #Velfie videos as a platform to interact with one’s social circle has been gaining popularity. The latest videos from Anupam Kher follow Yuvraj Singh’s Velfie video tributes to Indian PM Narendra Modi and Actor Amitabh Bachchan in the list of celebrities using the much acclaimed app.
