Carnival Group owned Big Cinemas was awarded The Best Chain- Central (Multiplexes above 20 screens) at The Fridays – Businessworld Cinema Exhibition Awards and Conference in Mumbai recently. Carnival Cinemas AVP Sales and Marketing Rajesh Makhija received the award from Businessworld chairman and editor- in chief Anurag Batra, and Subhash Ghai who was the Chief Guest at the inaugural edition of the awards.
A panel discussion titled, “Popcorn, the Saviour?” was also organized where Film Trade Analyst Komal Nahta, Carnival Cinemas CEO P V Sunil, Vijay Kapoor of PVR, Devang Sampat of Cinepolis and Bharathan Kandaswamy of IIM Ahmedabad discussed the mechanisms of the multiplex economy in India.
Shrikant Bhasi promoted Carnival Group- which recently bought over Big Cinemas, Broadway and Glitz cinemas- now has 341 screens in 88 cities across the country making it one of the top three players and the largest multiplex chain spread across cities in India.
Carnival Cinema has a vision to have 1000 screens in next two years. With presence in metro cities along with tier 2 and tier 3 cities, Carnival Cinemas aim to offer better movie watching experience across the nation.
Carnival Group is a Mumbai- based corporate with diversified business in hospitality, media and entertainment fields. Carnival has already established its brands in movie production, distribution and exhibition along with food courts, events, equipment rentals as well as a music label.
