Commercially successful Duniyadaari, widely acclaimed Dhag and Balak Palak will compete in the ‘Best Film’ category for this year’s Mhaiskar Marathi International Cinema and Theater Awards (MICTA). In the drama section, the ‘Best Drama’ will be selected from Proposal, Get Well Soon and Family Drama. The Garv Maharahstracha Awards were also announced today to be given to Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and senior actor Nana Patekar. The award ceremony will be held in Macau on the 27th, 28th and 29thSeptember.
The closing ceremony of the first phase of this year’s Mhaiskar MICTA took place in Pune at the Yashwantrao Chavan Natyamandir. Amidst an entertaining package of music, dance and comedy, the nominees for popular awards as well as winners of some other categories were announced. MICTA 2013 is supported by Mhaiskar Foundation, Maharashtra Kalanidhi Foundation, Calyx Group, Lab India, Palm Bliss and Viva InEntertainment.
Present on the occasion were Nitesh Rane – head of Maharashtra Kalanidhi and Swaabhimaan Sanghatna,chief-organiser of MICTA, well-known film Director and Actor Mahesh Manjrekar, member of the organising committee of MICTA and Director of City Corporation Aniruddha Deshpande, Prasad Apte of Calyx Group and Sachin Awasthi of Mhaiskar Foundation.
The Garv Maharashtracha Awards were announced by Rane. Following the announcement, he said, “The whole Maharashtra is proud of Sharad Pawar. Each one of us wants to see him becoming the Prime-Minister one day.” Speaking about MICTA, he said, “MICTA is very important as it takes Marathi cinema to international level. I have always felt that Marathi films lack in marketing compared to Hindi films.”
The ceremony was packed with entertainment as The Musicians – the band that plays for popular TV shows likeSa Re Ga Ma Pa presented the instrumental versions of favorite melodious songs. This was accompanied by dance performance by Vaibhav Tattwawadi, Amruta Khanvilkar, Deepali Sayyad, Bhargavi Chirmule, Sanskruti Balgude, Mansi Naik, Neha Pendse and Mayuresh Pen. Comic relief was given by Bhalchandra Kadam and Kushal Badrike. Vaibhav Mangle sang a song with The Musicians and also entertained the audience with the mimicry of Lata Mangeshkar. Pushkar Shrotri was the anchor for the show.
The nominations declared were for the categories of Best Film – Duniyadari, Dhag and Balak Palak, Best Director – Sanjay Jadhav (Duniyadari), Chandrakant Kulkarni (Aajcha Diwas Majha) and Shivaji Patil (Dhag), Best Actor (Male) – Ankush Chaudhari (Duniyadari), Swwapnil Joshi (Duniyadari) and Vikram Gokhale (Anumati), Best Actor (Female) – Usha Jadhav (Dhag), Sai Tamhankar (Duniyadari) and Priya Bapat (Time Please), Best Actor in Supporting Role (Male) – Hrishikesh Joshi (Aajcha Diwas Majha), Nagesh Bhosale (Dhag) and Upendra Limaye (Dhag) and Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female) – Sai Tamhankar (Anumati), Sulekha Talwalkar (Premachi Gosht) and Urmila Kanetkar (Duniyadari).
In drama section, the nominations are in the categories of Best Drama – Proposal, Get Well Soon and Family Drama, Best Director – Chandrakant Kulkarni (Get Well Soon), Rajan Tamhane (Proposal) and Vijay Kenkre (Family Drama), Best Actor (Female) – Santosh Juvekar (Sukh Mhanje Nemka Kaay Asta), Swwapnil Joshi (Get Well Soon), Aastad Kale (Proposal) and Mohan Joshi (Sukhaant), Best Actor (Female) – Reema (Ekdaa Pahava Na Karun), Sukanya Kulkarni (Family Drama) and Aditi Sarangdhar (Proposal), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) – Sandeep Mehta (Get Well Soon), Sagar Deshmukh (Une Pure Shahar Ek) and Devendra Saralkar (Du and Mee) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) – Hemangi Kavi (Thasht), Radhika Apte (Une Pure Shahar Ek) and Radhika Ingale (Du and Mee).
The names of awards-winners announced at the ceremony are Ambar Hadap and Ganesh Pandit (Story – Balak Palak), Chinmay Mandlekar and Sanjay Jadhav (Screenplay – Duniyadari), Ajit Dalvi and Prashant Dalvi (Dialogues – Aajcha Diwas Majha), Sanjay Jadhav (Cinematography – 72 Mail), Jitendra Joshi (Actor in a Negative Role – Duniyadari), Hansraj Jagtap (Child Artist – Dhag), Bhupendra Singh (Art Direction –Dhag), Apurvaa Motiwaale and Aashish Mhatre (Editing – Duniyadari), Meghna Jadhav (Costumes – Balak Palak), Lakshman Jadhav (Make-Up – Dhag), Amit Gupta (Sound Designer – Dhag), D. S. Vaidya (Lyrics – Aajcha Diwas Majha), Ashok Patki (Music – Aajcha Diwas Majha), Mangesh Dhakde (Background Music – Aajcha Diwas Majha), Sonu Nigam (Male Singer – Tik Tik, Duniyadari), Sayali Pankaj (Female Singer – Tik Tik, Duniyadari) and Rohan Rokde (Choreography – Aayna Ka Bayna).
In the drama section, the awards declared were Prashant Dalvi (Playwright – Get Well Soon), Rahul Ranade (Music – Du and Mee), Pradeep Mule (Sets – Proposal), Pradeep Mule (Lights – Proposal) and special jury award to Du And Mee and for drama brought back on stage to Premaa Tujha Rang Kasaa (Suyog, Mumbai).
The highlight of the day was Dindi –a procession of Marathi stars from Dahsbhuja Ganpati Temple to the venue of the ceremony along with the rhythm of Maharashtra’s favourite Dhol-Taasha. Mahesh Manjrekar along with wife Medha and other stars took blessings at the Dashbhuja Ganesh Temple before the procession began. Stars like Mahesh Manjrekar, Jitendra Joshi, Vaibhav Mangle, Vidyadhar Joshi, Mrunmayee Deshpande, Anand Ingale, Chandrakant Kulkarni, Bhalchandra Kadam, music director Rahul Ranade and Praveen Tarde danced to the beats of the band Sahyadri Garjana. Veterans Suhas Joshi, Satish Aalekar, Shreerang Godbole were also present in the ceremony along with Priya Bapat, Smita Tambe , Abhijeet Kelkar and others.
