BIG EYES is based on a true story of a woman who is the victim of one of the most epic art frauds in history of United States.
Big Eyes is a thought provoking biography drama, about the latent talent in women. The movie brings out the feelings and emotions of Margaret who has separated from her husband and has a little daughter to support, she makes art paintings of children with big eyes, She meets Walter Keane, a charming man who has the gift of the gab and can convince anyone on anything, Walter discovers Margaret’s talent and proposes her and marries her. He then sells her paintings claiming that he is the artist and when Margaret discovers this fraud, she is dismayed but Walter convinces her that it is for both their benefit and he is doing it for the family, Margaret is gives in feeling that she is weak and goes along with creating great Art paintings which are a hit in the market and in great demand. Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) achieves unbelievable fame and success in marketing the paintings using his innovative style. Margaret is always uneasy that she is lying to the world including her daughter that Walter is the artist whereas she is the real artist behind the creation of such wonderful painting and she finally decides to separate from Walter and then follows a legal case where she proves to everyone that she is the real painter and the creator of all the famous and popular ‘Big Eyes’ paintings.
Set in the 60′s this movie shows the emotional turmoil that a woman can go through. The director has done a good job in bringing out the emotions, combined with good photography and lighting.
As we say a picture is worth a thousand words, It is impossible to describe this beautiful movie in words. The movie has many leanings to take back home and is a must watch with the whole family.
