Bangalore : Amara Jyothi Public School managed in association with Pearson Schools, a part of the world’s leading learning company Pearson, celebrated ‘Annual Sports Meet’ today in the presence of Chief Guest Mr.Venkatesh Prasad, Arjuna Awardee and former Indian Cricketer. In an attempt to educate students about the importance of sports, Mr. Prasad awestruck the children by talking about the benefits of incorporating sports in curriculum and the value it adds in an individual’s life.
Speaking at the occasion Mr.Venkatesh Prasad, former Indian Cricketer said “It gives me immense pleasure to see schools giving equal importance to sports and education these days. Sports play an important role in educating young minds as it brings with it the ability to develop a sound mind, body and soul with increased self-confidence. It also helps students to develop a strong mental growth and stay focused in their activities.”
The theme of the sports meet this year was ‘Colour Wars’, as colour plays an important role in the emotional development of a child, influences various mood, day to day actions and behavior towards others. The theme was well depicted with the feast of colors that was observed in the event with nearly 2000 students from pre-primary to college seen in colourful costumes. There were displays of aerobics, yoga and karate in the event apart from hurdle races, running, and cultural performances. Games for parents were also part of the sports extravaganza.
