Bengaluru: Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar is presenting “Suroor,” an evening of soulful Ghazals and Sufi music on Sunday, 23rd November 2014 at Convention Hall of Indiranagar Club. The event will be dedicated to raise funds to establish Secondary level Eye Care Hospital at Kolar. Prestige Group, the leading real estate property developer, has joined hands with Rotary Indiranagar for this noble cause. Suroor will treat the guests to an evening of enthralling Ghazals by the maestro, Talat Aziz, followed by the rendition of poignant Sufi & Fusion music by Jeetu Shankar and his troupe.
Talat Aziz, an established Ghazal singer with over three decades of proficiency, has sung all over the globe and has had the honour of being invited by the then Indian PM, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, to sing exclusively for him at Kumarakom, Kerala. Aziz has sung in the Indian Parliament Annex for the Members of Parliament in 2003. He has been invited as a personal guest of King Mohammad VI of Morocco at his New Year’s party in Marrakech 2004. Talat Aziz has brushed shoulders with who’s-who of the celebrity kingdom across the globe, during his performances.
Jeetu Shankar is a far-spread name in the field of percussions. A Tabla player par excellence, he is one of the favorite accompanists of the highest order of classical singers and music personalities. He has been a regular feature on the famous Television reality music show Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
The proceeds of the night will be invested by Rotary Indiranagar to build new facility of secondary level Eye Care Hospital in association with Globe Eye Foundation. Globe Eye Foundation has been delivering eye care services through its Eye Care Hospital at Hoskote (A Rural Town near Bangalore) since 1996. More than 80% of the service by the Globe Eye Foundation is going free to the needy poor in Karnataka.
The mesmerizing evening of music will start off at 7 p.m. on the 23rd of November, at the Convention Hall of the Indiranagar Club. The performances by Talat Aziz and Jeetu Shankar will be followed by dinner for the patrons. Tickets are priced at Rs 1500 and Rs 2000.
