Marathi is the language in my house as my wifes mother tongue is Marathi says Ajay Devgn proudly. Ajay adds, Besides my wife, it is also the mother tongue of my mother in law Tanujaa and it was the mother tongue of my grandmother in law Shobhna Samarth. After working in Singham and Singham Returns, my love for Marathi as a language has increased.

Ajay reiterates that Vikas Kadam, the writer of Viti Dandu and he have been working together for several years. Vikas had narrated the subject of Viti Dandu when he had actually written it and the moment I heard the narration, I had fallen in love with the subject and decided to be a part of it, because I felt that I couldnt have possibly got a better film than that to make my bow with in Marathi films”.

Ajay continues. “Because I was busy with Singham Returns in the meanwhile, I couldnt devote time to Viti Dandu but now I am focusing all my time and attention on Viti Dandu wholeheartedly. Vikas has not only written it beautifully but also acted in the film along with Dilip Prabhavalkar, Yatin Karyekar and Ashok Samarth and I am also going to go all the way out for promotion of the film.

Viti Dandu deals with two different periods. One is before the Independence and another is after the Independence. The story revolves around the intricate relationship between a kid called Govind and his grandfather played by Dilip Prabhavalkar. Todays youth may not be aware of the game called Viti Dandu though earlier it sued to be a favorite of  all the Maharashtrian kids but the film will now introduce to the kids of today the game, according to Ganesh Kadam who has directed the film.

The film Viti Dandu stars Dilip PrabhaValkar, Yatin Karyekar, Ashok Samarth, Ravindra Mankani, Nishant Bhavsar, Vikas Kadam, Shubhankar Atre, Radhika Deore, Mrunal Thakur, Uday Deshmukh, Gauhar Khan etc besides Ravindra Patwardhan, Raju Athawale, Charudutt Bhagwath, Vaibhav Ambekar, Sanjeev Chauhan and Amir Tadwalkar. The story and screenplay of the film is by Vikas Kadam while dialogues have been written by Abhiram Badkamkar. Praveen Patil is the co-producer.

Deepali Vichare, Subhash Nakashe, Sanjeev and Rahul Tombre are the choreographers while Sunil Rodrigues, Sunil Pujari and Amrit Pal are the action masters. Vikram Gaikwad is the Art Director while Jagdish Yere is the makeup wizard while Geeta Godbole is the costume designer. Lyrics written by Shrirang Godbole, Manvel Gaikwad, Aashay Parab and Hrishikesh Paranjape are set to music by Santosh Mulekar. Shankar Mahadevan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Meghna Mishra, Anvesha, Manvel Gaikwad, Pandharinath Kamble, Udesh Umap, Pepon etc have sung the songs while Sailesh Awasthi has cranked the camera. Jayant Jathar is the Editor while Surendra Dhawle is the Creative Director. Prashant Pawar, Pramod Shinde and Bhupesh Joshi are the assistant directors of the film. Viti Dandu which will be released on November 21 all over Maharashtra on a scale which will be quite grand for a Marathi film till date.
