Lady Antebellum’s leading lady Hillary Scott has long been a fan of romance author Nicholas Sparks, especially the film made from his tearjerker novel, The Notebook. So when filmmakers asked for the band to write a song fora new film based on the Sparks novel The Best of Me, it was a no brainer. “To be able to write for one specific thing and to put ourselves into the story, because we really try to write from our own personal experience, was really cool,” Scott says, “It’s a really special, sweet story.” The film follows the storyline of high school sweethearts, prayed by James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan, who reunite after 21 years and realize their young love remains strong. And Lady A’s new song “I Did With You,” is part of the film’s soundtrack, set for release on October 31st in India.
Putting it together was a new experience, says band mate Dave Haywood. “They sent us the script to the entire movie pretty much,” he says. “We’ve never really had that much of a story sent to us. It was fun to follow different scenes of the movie and put that in the song. It was such a cool opportunity.”
Even though being a part of the movie business marked a huge accomplishment for the trio, it was the romance of the storyline that touched them the most. The song is about when you know that someone is the one – you know,” says Charles Kelley of the tune, written with their frequent songwriting collaborator Monty Powell. “Whenever you find your soul mate,” adds Scott, “there are parts of them that you wish you could have as well and the two of you bring out the best in one another.”
The Best of Me is slated to release in India on October 31st 2014. Actor James Marsden, Actress Michelle Monaghan and Director Michael Hoffman will be present in India from October 29th to 31st 2014. The South Asia Premier takes place on October 29th 2014 followed by a closed door Black tie dinner on October 30th 2014.
