India’s largest short film festival ‘ShuruaatKa Interval’ opens with overwhelming response

The festival was culminated at PVR, Juhu on 13th August 2014 in the presence of actor Ranbir Kapoor and luminous directors Vikram Aditya Motwane, Imtiaz Ali, Vikas Bahl, Anurag Basu and Amole Gupte followed by the premier of the movies from the festival. With over 150 plus, invite only audience present at the venue to watch the 8 chosen movies packaged into a 98minute capsule received a great response from Bollywood and media fraternity. The films showcased the diversity in treatment & interpretation of the theme ‘INTERVAL’. The films are a part of a long competition which started with over 400 submissions for debutant directors. The film releases in PVR cinemas in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, Chandigarh& Ahmadabad on Independence Day – Celebrate Independent Cinema this Independence day.

This is the first time a short film festival is reaching out to the masses with a theatrical release. The films have been mentored by Ace Directors – Vikram Aditya Motwane, Imtiaz Ali, Anand Gandhi and Vikas Bahl to bring out the best in the actors and the story. The participating directors in the festival were provided script guidance from Ritesh Shah, Kshiti Nijhawan Agrawal, Bijesh Jayarajan and Rajashree to casting support from Mukesh Chabbra. The relevance of the festival came from the statistics that showcase 15,000 films certified in a year out of which 11000 are short films. This indicates that each year, the number of documentary and short film makers in India taken as category together rises by at least 20,000.
